The Cleft of the Rock: Choosing to See God in our Hardest Places.
When God revealed himself to Moses, he placed Moses in the cleft of a rock. It was not a mountaintop, or a spacious field, or a palace filled with all the comforts of royalty. God chose a dark, lonely, confining cleft.
What if God uses our places of great hardship as “clefts?” What if he allows us to know him in a way we otherwise would not because of these clefts? And what if our clefts are meant to transform us, in order to reflect God’s glory and goodness to the world around us?
